In my coaching experience, helping people on 3 continents with fitness, nutrition and weight loss and interviewing world class experts on my Youtube show, I’ve learned a number of surprising principles that are not commonly known.
This is a big and surprising one today. Are you ready?…
How many times have you – or someone you know – started “eating healthier” or exercising hoping to tone muscles and lose extra pounds for good. But then life always gets in the way?….
Then the lost pounds come roaring back and the “yo yo weight loss” or titness self sabotage cycle continues. Maybe this leave you a bit frustrated or demoralized and maybe be doubting yourself.
And maybe the excuses come to mind something like:
- ” I work sooo hard so I deserve to enjoy the weekends with all my fav foods and drinks”
- “Life is too stressful at the moment with my family so my goals had to be put on pause.”
- “Work or family obligation got way too busy to keep going with my fat loss process.”
How do you overcome this vicious cycle of fitness self-sabotage. You know starting a new fitness and/or fad diet plan but then letting other things take priority?
BTW the fitness program, diet, and healthy habit skillsets all matter, especially after 40, BUT only after your mindset is lined up for success and not for self-sabotage. Listen, this is very common as our minds do not want to let us out of our habitual “comfort zone”. So what to do?….
There’s a few strategies. But I like to start with this one. In my coaching experience, losing X number of pounds is NOT good enough…
Nor is just “I want to fit into my skinny jeans “. Even losing weight to reduce high blood pressure or high blood sugar while maybe better is INCOMPLTE. These are not enough to maintain motivation and sustain healthy habits needed for weight loss success.
That’s why I help my coaching clients GO DEEPER! As some wise person once said, “Why To Before How To”
Only when real, deep 𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 – Your Why To- 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 your 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥, THAT 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 real changes can 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧. Here are 2 pretty good examples:
- “𝐈 𝐰ill do this program to improve my habits and mindset and 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐭 BECAUSE I want 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐬 and to 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 more 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 and sexy with and without clothes”
“I will do this program to improve my habits and mindset BECAUSE 𝐈’ve 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡is extra 30 pounds, constant 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 stop stress-eating / mindless snacking 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐲 day to day reorganized. 𝐈 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞 habits, mindset leading to a better body.
For me personally, my push included this:
First after partying too much in my twenties and thirties, watching my father’s health and life deteriorate was a wake up call. After heart surgery and lots of statins (medication), my father begin to get dementia. I still recall the story of how hard it was to take his car away from him as he was not up to driving. He is now been in confined to a nursing home for a number years.
Later when our son was born in 2016, my commitment to living healthy via optimal habits and mindset and continuing education was amped up even higher 🙂
Now that you know with this very important strategy w𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥 and why? Please c𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 or share on social media, thanks. Let’s all say no to yo-yo dieting and fitness self-sabotage!
